" Sharon Stone, La Vie des Animaux - Vol.1 is the first of a series of artist’s books self-published by Vincent Delbrouck. This volume is entirely composed of collages and paintings created during summer 2019 by V.D. at home, in the studio and the garden. It is not a catalogue. The book, designed by the artist Philippe Koeune with V.D., swings between full collages and zoom views. It is the exorcism of love, the erotic story of a new contamination between birds and female energy. Bleeding with seminal drops of red and light blue painting, a body stands beyond this book, a body with an erotic presence. A body that stands on its dissolution as the trace of a journey along the eroded curves of a persistent fantasy."

"Des collages, des zooms sur ces collages, comme des plongées en eux. Découvrir leurs richesses, par la proximité, l’œil qui isole la partie du tout.
Le tout est né de la fusion, superposition, juxtaposition d’éléments hétérogènes, le propre du collage, assembler des (fragments de) mondes pour en composer un nouveau. Agglutiner, barrer, recouvrir, dégouliner sur ces images qui forment dans bien des cas un fond à une éruption chromatique foisonnante, une éjaculation qui termine sa course sur l’objet du désir, objet imprimé sur la page du magazine.
Les zooms sont autant de microcosmes, de réalités finies porteuses de leur propre(s) histoire(s). Zoomer c’est recomposer. Ouvrage fractal par excellence, on pourrait ne jamais cesser de progresser dans la matière du collage jusqu'a rencontrer sa 'nano-matière' au-delà de laquelle le vide est tapi.
‘Sharon Stone’, se propose de lier le macrocosme au microcosme. Mais comment procéder ? S'agit-il de confronter le grand au petit ? ou bien, à la manière d'un tricot, les considérer comme deux fils distincts qui au 'fil' du livre s'entrecroisent pour tisser une matière particulière ?
L'œil du photographe s'est penché sur certaines zones de ses collages pour y découvrir des entrelacs, des concomitances imprévues et imprévisibles. La fascination de la profondeur du monde est à l'œuvre ici. Comment dépasser cette fascination pour instaurer un langage visuel autonome ? Un langage qui au-delà de la surprise agisse sur le spectateur, le tienne à la façon d’un envoutement voodoo.
Je pense à créer un corps fait de zooms. Que ces parties isolées du tout, se recomposent pour former un être nouveau. Etre possiblement sans tête, être difforme mais néanmoins viable.
Tout au long du livre, peu à peu, nous ferions un travelling le long de ce corps, de haut en bas.
Un corps se tient derrière ce livre, un corps se tient entre les collages, corps dont la matière a été extraite du corps même du livre. Un corps à la présence pornographique. Un corps qui s’érige sur sa dissolution comme la trace d’un voyage le long des courbes érodées d’un fantasme persistant.

Vincent Delbrouck

Vincent Delbrouck (aka V.D.), born in Brussels in 1975, studied visual communication at Ihecs. For more than twenty-five years, he has been developing a body of work that combines images, collages, texts and fictional diaries His work unfolds like a poetic autobiography, both intimate and collective, exploring the links between memory and imagination.
Delbrouck has explored two major locations in his career: Cuba, where he worked for twenty-five years, and Nepal, where he lived for a year in Kathmandu and in the countryside. In each place, his approach is deeply organic, imbued with his experience in the field. In Cuba, he has built a body of work nourished by encounters and sometimes surreal details, while in Nepal, he captures the energy of the city and the mountains and the inner transformation that it brings about. These immersions shape a hybrid practice that connects the intimate and the collective, the visible and the invisible, and manifests itself in colorist work that oscillates between still life and portraiture.
His projects have been shown in (self-published) books and international exhibitions, notably at FOAM in Amsterdam, the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi, FoMu in Antwerp, the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City, PhotoFest Houston, Contretype, PhotoForum Pasquart, the Mulhouse Biennale (residency), and Huis Marseille. His work has been recognized with the Outset Unseen Award and he was a finalist for the Leica Oscar Barnack Award.
Today, Delbrouck divides his time between Brussels and Andalusia, where he lives with his partner on a finca inhabited by horses, chickens and dogs. This daily life close to nature nourishes his artistic research: capturing the flow of life and inscribing photography in a sensitive and organic movement.
